Storage Podcast Delves into Object Storage
Object storage is new to most enterprise data centers. Adoption is accelerating for two key reasons: First, object storage solves the capacity challenge that organizations face as they collect and retain ever-growing data sets. Second, cloud and on-prem infrastructures increasingly need to work together, not separately. This becomes a challenge when the two worlds speak different languages and cannot easily present a unified management view.
Object storage addresses both of these challenges.
Listen to this episode of Storage Intensity for a dive deep into object storage and how mainstream data centers can take advantage of the technology. One of the primary uses cases is using object storage for backup and archive. All of the leading backup solutions can write to S3-based object stores, and it makes an ideal scalable backup repository. Another use case is an archive, which leverages object storage’s scale and immutability as well as its rich metadata tracking to enable users to quickly and easily find data within the archive. During the podcast we also talk about how object storage is ideal for cloud service providers (CSP) and application service providers.
Listen in as George Crump, Lead Analyst of Storage Switzerland and Jon Toor Chief Marketing Officer at Cloudian discuss how almost every data center can benefit from Object Storage.
