Cloudian HyperStore® Software Integrates Seamlessly with Amazon S3 for Unlimited Scalability, Simple Auto-Tiering, and Complete S3 Application Compatibility

SEATTLE, Wash. and Foster City, Calif., July 10, 2014 —Cloudian, Inc., the leading provider of hybrid cloud storage solutions, today announced that it has expanded its relationship with Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, in a major leap forward in giving enterprise customers leading data tiering flexibility to Amazon S3 and Glacier.

“This agreement with Amazon Web Services means that our customers can now not only deploy full-featured, on-premises, Amazon S3-compliant clouds, but easily auto-tier their data to the AWS cloud. Users have the option to leverage AWS infrastructure for long-term bulk storage while keeping their most critical data close at hand,” said Paul Turner, chief marketing officer at Cloudian. “This unique hybrid cloud approach ensures nearly unlimited capacity expansion, straightforward data tiering, and unfettered use of the vast ecosystem of S3 applications — all behind the user’s firewall.”

Traditional networked storage approaches like SAN and NAS struggle to keep pace with growing volumes of data because they lack the scalability, flexibility and agility required by today’s storage environments. Many enterprise organizations now seek hybrid IT solutions to combine the scale and flexibility of public clouds with the security and control of on-premises storage. Indeed, technology research giant Gartner, Inc. predicts that nearly half of large enterprises will deploy hybrid clouds by the end of 2017, in its October 2013 report, “Private Cloud Matures, Hybrid Cloud is Next.”

Cloudian customers, including Bitcasa and Storage Made Easy, understand the value of tiering data from on-premises storage to and from the AWS cloud. These customers and others are on the forefront of advancing hybrid architectures in order to maximize storage efficiency, scalability, and auto-tiering to S3.

“With the leading mobile file sharing application on AWS, Bitcasa is seeing a mounting interest in hybrid IT by enterprise customers,” said Joe Lyons, VP of business development at Bitcasa. “Cloudian’s relationship with Amazon helps us deliver a more full-featured and secure hybrid file sharing with all the necessary control for critical business content.”

Jim Liddle, CEO of Storage Made Easy said, “Hybrid cloud is all about choice and security. Cloudian’s relationship with AWS enables us to extend that choice to customers who want to take advantage of a hybrid cloud topology in order to benefit from the flexibility of uncomplicated and secure data tiering where and when they need it.”

Cloudian hybrid cloud storage solutions are on display today at AWS Summit New York 2014, Javits Convention Center, booth 632.
