A Streaming Feature Store Based on Flink and the AWS SageMaker Feature Store API

The next wave of digital transformation is a synthesis of on-premise and cloud workloads where the same compute and storage cloud services are also available on-premise, in particular at the “edge” — near or at the location where the data is generated. For this edge-cloud synthesis to work, the cloud services — specifically programming APIs — must be available at the edge without requiring cloud access. For example, popular AWS services such as S3 for data storage and Lambda for serverless computing also need to work at the edge independently of the cloud.

Understanding AWS S3 Storage Pricing: A Comprehensive Guide

Jon Toor, CMO, Cloudian View LinkedIn Profile   How is Amazon S3 Priced? Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) is an elastically scalable object storage service. The service provides a free tier to get you started, with limited capacity for 12 months. Beyond the limits of the free tier, AWS S3 storage pricing has five ... Read More

LinkedIn Live: Secure Data with VMware vSAN & Cloudian HyperStore

Our joint solution combines Cloudian Object Storage with VMware’s vSAN Data Persistence platform through VMware Cloud Foundation with Tanzu. Adding Cloudian object storage software to vSAN is simple and easy, and serves any cloud-native or traditional IT application requiring S3-compatible storage.

Object Storage: Better Monetizing Content by Transitioning from Tape

As media organizations look for new ways to monetize their ever-growing content archives, they need to ask themselves whether they have the right storage foundation. In a recent article I wrote for Post Magazine, I discussed the advantages of object storage over tape when it comes to managing and protecting content. Below is a reprint of the article.

S3 Storage: How It Works, Use Cases and Tutorial

What is S3 Storage? Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is a massively scalable storage service based on object storage technology. It provides a very high level of durability, with high availability and high performance. Data can be accessed from anywhere via the Internet, through the Amazon Console and the powerful S3 API. S3 storage provides ... Read More

Tape — Does It Measure Up?

Anyone who has worked with LTO tapes is well aware of the challenges. Let’s just say that they are anything but easy to deal with. From the lack of accessibility to the complexity of management and overall costs of maintaining and expanding aging tape libraries, the challenges have been a thorn in the side of many an IT administrator. Historically, organizations have bitten the proverbial bullet and implemented tapes for long-term data archiving and backup, inheriting along with it all the associated problems. However, the remote aspect of distributed teams during COVID-19 pandemic has accentuated the accessibility and maintenance challenges inherent to large data tape libraries.

How to Set up HyperStore S3 Object Storage on VMware Cloud Foundation with Tanzu

We recently announced general availability of Cloudian’s HyperStore object storage on VMware Cloud Foundation with Tanzu.  HyperStore® is S3-compatible object storage, which now integrates with VMware’s vSAN Data Persistence platform to provide a containerized version of HyperStore managed by Kubernetes. In this blog, I describe the steps to set up HyperStore in this environment so that apps can consume S3 object storage.  The setup can either use kubectl command-line operations or the vSphere Client User Interface (VC UI).  Here we focus on using the VC UI.

How VMware vSAN Data Persistence Platform and Cloudian Object Storage Drive Down Operating Costs

VMware today announced general availability of VMware Cloud Foundation 4.2. VMware Cloud Foundation with Tanzu lets organizations run both modern and traditional applications within a single management framework, thus reducing operating expenses. Cloudian is proud to be part of this announcement with the integration of Cloudian HyperStore object storage as part of this platform.
